Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team (EAAF)

The Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team (EAAF) is a non-governmental, non-profit scientific institution. It applies methodologies and techniques from various branches of forensic sciences for the investigation, search, recovery, cause of death determination, identification, and restitution of missing persons.

It works with victims of forced disappearances, ethnic, political, institutional, gender-based, and religious violence; current disappearances, drug trafficking, human trafficking, organized crime; migration processes, wars and armed conflicts, accidents, and catastrophes.

The work of the Team is based on the principles of Human Rights, international humanitarian law, and, above all, respect for the individual and collective right to identity, truth, and justice.

Currently, EAAF consists of more than 60 members covering various scientific fields such as anthropology, archaeology, medicine, biology, genetics, physics, architecture, informatics, and geography. It also has departments for administration, institutional development, and communication.

The main headquarters is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There is an office in New York, USA, and a representation in Mexico City, Mexico. The forensic genetics laboratory is situated in the city of Córdoba, Argentina.

One of the guiding principles of EAAF is a profound respect for the opinions and concerns of the communities and families of the victims, working alongside them in the stages of exhumation, cause of death determination, and identification, providing them with all available information at each stage of the work.
