This booklet provides an overview of ICRC Missing Persons Project’s current activities and future ambitions. Launched in 2018, the project was born out of the conviction that a worldwide joining of forces of family representatives, experts, States and other key stakeholders is required to improve the global response to the tragic issue of missing persons and its consequences for their families. Tapping into some 150 years of the ICRC Central Tracing Agency’s operational experience in tracing missing persons and reconnecting families, this initiative seeks to build consensus on best practices, promote existing technical standards and develop new ones, where needed.
