Research in forensic pathology/medicolegal death investigation

This document addresses several key issues related to medicolegal death investigation research and is divided into corresponding parts. First, it identifies some of the barriers inhibiting research in the field of medicolegal death investigation. Second, it describes potential mechanisms to reduce those barriers. It also describes ways to promote research through access to study materials and the ways to promote research through access to grant money. Finally, it presents a gap analysis based on survey studies and presents recommendations for research focus areas by the Scientific Working Group for Medicolegal Death Investigation (SWGMDI).
