This publication is a compilation of all recommendations and best practices relating to the proper handling of the remains of those who die in direct or indirect relation to an armed conflict or internal violence, for implementation by non-specialists. It should allow every military force to draw up SOP for commanders and to establish Training modules for its members that incorporate the legal rules and the checklists. The publication also enables humanitarian organizations to incorporate those recommendations and best practices into their policies, instructions, training and operations.
