The Standards for Casualty Recording were first published in 2016, following a three year period of consultation with casualty recording practitioners worldwide. Expert representatives of the ICRC and UN agencies also contributed to the process. The Standards provide guidance on best practice in all areas of the casualty recording process. They are intended for use by anyone involved in casualty recording, or who makes use of casualty recording data produced by others. As well as providing guidance for casualty recording practitioners themselves, the Standards can help other actors evaluate the reliability of casualty data they receive.
