The manual offers practical guidance to practitioners involved in the identification of the missing and who are using or planning to use forensic DNA analysis for this purpose. DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) analysis is a useful tool for the forensic identification of the missing in armed conflicts, other situations of armed violence and disasters, and has to be used in accordance to the standards of best practice outlined in the manual.
