The ICRC Central Tracing Agency is pleased to invite you to its upcoming Webinar: “Responding to the Missing and Dead in Disasters: The Roles and Expertise of Non-state Actors”

On Tuesday 31st January 2023 from 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM, CET or UTC + 1

The webinar will demonstrate the expertise available through non-state actors and their role during the response to the missing, dead and their families during mass fatality events. It will highlight the need for programs to include emergency preparedness, planning, training, and for the response by trained and experienced staff and volunteers to be undertaken in consultation and coordination with government, local authorities, and communities, thereby reducing the impact of disasters on the affected families and communities.

10:00-11:20Presentations on Kawa-Zulu Natal Floods by the Search and Rescue South Africa and the South African Red Cross Society

11:20-11:50- Break

11:50-13:10- Presentations by Rescue South Africa and WITS University on interaction with the media

13:10-13:40- Break

13:40-15:00- Presentations by Sue O’Sullivan and Niamh Smith on the importance of family engagement

We encourage you to send your questions in advance at: RCRC_CTA_Centre@icrc.org giving us enough time to prepare, latest by Thursday 26th January 2023. You can also message us your questions during the webinar, but the questions sent in advance will be addressed with priority.

The webinar will take place on “Zoom”. To join the webinar, please make sure to register in advance here.
