Regarding missing persons:
Chapter 76 of Title 10 of the US Code establishes a system of accounting for missing persons. The system covers all member of the armed forces on active duty, all civilian officers or employees of the Department of Defense or of a contractor of the Department of Defense, if he/she is a US citizen, as well as Coast Guard personnel. The chapter provides for the initial and subsequent boards of inquiry procedure with the possibility of further review upon receipt of information that may result in a change of status of the person.
